Another Ultra employee reaches 25 year milestone!

We celebrated last week when another one of our valued employees reached the milestone of 25 years of service.

Ultra Precision Products has grown and developed significantly over the last 25 years with turnover and capacity increasing beyond all recognition, largely facilitated by a move 10 years ago to purpose built premises which enabled us to expand so notably.

Our employee was presented with a spa voucher as a small token of our appreciation by our MD and we hope that they will stay with us for many more years to come!

Aerospace Technology to be invested in heavily

The aerospace sector generates £24bn a year for the UK economy and is the second largest in the world.

In the next fifteen years it is estimated that around 27,000 new planes will be ordered.  Last month Chancellor George Osborne announced a £60m investment in the development of high-tech aerospace technology during a visit to the Manufacturing Technology Centre. 30m of the aerospace technology development fund will come from the government with industry committing to provide the rest.

This is all great news for Ultra Precision Products Ltd as manufacture of aerospace components is a significant part of our business.

Other sectors targeted to benefit from this centre’s work are the automotive and medical devices sectors, again good news for Ultra as a large proportion of our customer base is within these sectors.

Interesting Photographic Manufacturing Exhibition Launches

We were recently contacted by FT.com to inform us of an interesting new photographic exhibition which will start touring the UK at the end of January. In the past our production director has provided information and quotes to the FT for their business articles.

The feature in the FT http://www.ft.com/cms/s/2/c54665e6-6c38-11e3-a216-00144feabdc0.html#ixzz2qT2vXDb1 looks at the concept behind the exhibition in depth. It is particularly interesting to Ultra Precision Products Ltd as it cites the growth and success of the more unusual sectors within manufacturing, such as medical and industrial, and those which do not necessarily make a complete ‘end product’, exactly what we do here at Ultra Precision within our precision CNC milling and CNC turning sections.

The exhibition entitled ‘Open for Business’ was a result of much investigation into a broad spectrum of manufacturing businesses, some of which are familiar household names and others which are more obscure. To see what the exhibition is offering and where it is visiting, have a look at their site www.openforbusiness.uk.com.

The exhibition is funded by the Arts Council and 9 other institutions, all based within the UK.

Ultra wins award!

Ultra Precision is delighted to have received an annual award from one of its customers for the second year in a row. The award for continuous improvement was presented to Ultra last week by a large multi-national company with sites in every continent and a multi-billion turnover. The award is a result of actions we have put in place to reduce costs to this customer. This has included a number of initiatives on machine capability and cleaning processes. The main factor, however, has been our ability to re-design parts and advise on cheaper material alternatives, permitting us to reduce component costs extensively. This has been achieved by allowing us to view and study finished assemblies and understand their use.

The improvements we have continued to make has resulted in us being recommended to tender against suppliers in other European countries and to supply a number of their European production facilities.

If you think you could benefit from such services please do not hesitate to contact us.
