Aluminium machining on our twin spindle lathes
This is one of the latest parts from our twin spindle lathes. Although hard to see, the bigger diameter is a taper, which meant machining special jaws in order to pick the part up in the sub-spindle. The parts were all produced from 6 inch diameter billets.

Are robots really the future?
As manufacturing increasingly relies on robots should we be worried that one day humans will become redundant? Automation has become a necessity in order for many businesses to remain competitive but there is one city in Denmark that has taken this even further. There is an entire 'cluster' comprising of 129 companies and 3,600 people that has become a dedicated centre for robotics and automation businesses. The concept was born initially from the need for the city of Odense's shipyard to be able to compete with southeast Asia, so processes such as painting and welding became automated.
Followed by a generous donation from a prominent family, the city experienced rapid growth in the sector and is now known ass one of the world's top robotic clusters with recent turnover recorded at 763 million euros.

Interesting Oil Innovation Developed by Sandvik
At Ultra Precision we are always very interested to read about new innovations and advances and this particular development by one of our suppliers sounds like an interesting step forward.

Latest precision engineered scientific part
One of our latest parts made from aluminium tool plate, 60mm thick, water cut into a round billet 250mm diameter. The parts were completed with two CNC turning operations and two CNC milling operations and fully inspected on one of our CMM’s.
