Latest engineering on new machine
We recently made four of these lighting housings and two slightly smaller versions from an Aluminium billet of 470mm x 395mm x 101mm 6082.
The finished thickness of the part was 92mm, the large pocket depth was 50mm, and the depth of the finsĀ - 35mm.
Using the high speed machining technique we were able to cut metal at 12,000 rpm, with a feed of 7500mm/min. The depth of cut was 20mm and the step over of 18%. We are hoping for a bigger order soon after these prototypes so we can see if we can improve on this.
