Are robots really the future?
As manufacturing increasingly relies on robots should we be worried that one day humans will become redundant? Automation has become a necessity in order for many businesses to remain competitive but there is one city in Denmark that has taken this even further. There is an entire 'cluster' comprising of 129 companies and 3,600 people that has become a dedicated centre for robotics and automation businesses. The concept was born initially from the need for the city of Odense's shipyard to be able to compete with southeast Asia, so processes such as painting and welding became automated.
Followed by a generous donation from a prominent family, the city experienced rapid growth in the sector and is now known ass one of the world's top robotic clusters with recent turnover recorded at 763 million euros.
